BLJ turns three this month! Glad to share with you artwork (above) from 2 local students, Tom Kwok for the painting and Marco Chan for the mixed-media work - both immensely heart-warming for BLJ's anniversary celebration. Thanks guys!
Also, the following pieces came to me equally passionately to bless this humble literary journal:

Dear BLJ

You remind me
of that lacquered doll
my parents
gave me as a gift --
the kind of doll
I could twist open
again and again,
always to find
another gift
waiting inside.

Happy Birthday!

— Jacqueline Jules, poet, USA

Balloons, rejoicing and happiness, hopes and dreams.

Since its publishing three years ago, BALLOONS has striven to bring in the magic of language into people's lives. From contrasting and dramatic art pieces, to witty cute poems, the beauty of literature is shown vividly through intricate words and graphics. This magazine brings one venture through audacious journeys, travelling across dimensions and worlds in different perspectives.

While thought exists, words are alive and literature becomes an escape, not from, but into living'. BALLOONS LIT JOURNAL, an intellectual and visual delight, has inspired young readers and writers to appreciate the wonder of literature. Marking the third year of its publishing, this magazine has brought allurement and fascination to readers throughout its previous five issues.

Balloons, rejoicing and happiness, hopes and dreams. Looking forward to more magic to come.

— Oscar Au, student, Hong Kong

For small readers of ‘Balloons Lit’
When you let go of a balloon
and dream of soaring someday soon
...far away into the blue...
your imagination will be flying high
long before you take to the sky.

You read stories in your favorite magazine
that carry you there in the meantime.
Perhaps you want to say: ‘thanks’
and ‘may the heavens bless you.’

Travel angels love to listen
to grateful children’s wishes
and happily help young wings unfold
for journeys of tomorrow.

— Monika John, writer, USA
