What better team could we ask for?
Following the launch of the sensational Issue 2, BLJ has the fortune to recruit some of the best “English artists” available in Hong Kong to form a more solid crew for this humble literary magazine. As the Editor-in-Chief (centre), I am proudly announcing that Dr Gary Harfitt (1st from left), Mr Simon Tham (2nd from left), Ms Lancy Tam (1st from right) and Dr Ricci Fong (2nd from right) will be forming a new Advisory Board for further improving BLJ with even better ideas and productions in the future. We sincerely hope to further promote creative writing and reading through both traditional and innovative means among young readers locally as well as globally. I am particularly moved by the fact that these board members, who are experts in their own fields, have no hesitation in joining the crew upon invitation despite that this is a non-profit-making yet time-consuming endeavour. How should I thank them enough? Let’s continue to celebrate for the beauty of language arts. The best is yet to come! Visit our Masthead page to see the profile of BLJ’s Advisory Board, and don’t forget to keep reading, writing and submitting excellent materials! Once again to our board members, welcome on board and let’s begin to fly! Cheers, Pete Happy to tell you that the second issue of BALLOONS Lit. Journal is featured in a pedagogical blog of an award-winning children literature author Jacqueline Jules.
Below is the link to her lovely review of the issue: http://penciltipswritingworkshop.blogspot.hk/2015/09/back-to-school-with-balloons-lit-journal.html Well...tonight I feel that I have little reason keeping myself waiting for 1 Aug. I have decided to do it like the last issue - releasing it a bit earlier than promised! Any complaint about that?
So, Issue Two is here, born healthily with 48 rich pages from talented creators globally. Do download it or flip it online or both! Desktop or laptop or tablet or print it out...just preferrably not reading on your cell phone - the screen is too small for the great works! Finally, I can be relaxed a little...I'm in no hurry of the audio tracks but if you do wanna send me your version of some pieces, go ahead ;) I always welcome pleasant surprises! Tell me what you think and keep your good work coming this way! Happy reading and thank you for helping us grow! Cheers, Pete
Issue 2 is at its previewing stage where contributors and the BLJ reading team are invited to approve the final version of the magazine. Also, the foreword will be written by an invited educator who has given me so much inspiration and encouragement in my teaching and writing endeavours. If things go smoothly, I'll stick with August (hopefully early August) when the magazine is released online. Will update you soon!
Pete I'd say that Issue Two's first draft is 70% complete. It's getting tricky to wrap it up with the final pieces because the page numbering may not go right. The job is not as easy as I thought partly because my schedule is yet to allow me to fully invest time into the design of the magazine. I am aware that some of the contributors (and readers) are getting a bit impatient for the publication of this second issue. In fact, I should be the one who's more impatient. But I won't force myself to finish it in a rush (I don't think any of the writings I accepted were done in a hurry either). Quality comes first. I will find the best quality time to complete this issue. I have a good feeling about this and I hope you will feel the same.
Pete For those of you wishing to be published by BLJ, this interview done by Duotrope could be very informative. Check it out at https://duotrope.com/interview/?id=16328
Or simply click the picture above. Happy reading! Pete BLJ's second issue is in healthy progress. We have been very selective and have chosen the right pieces for this issue. Certainly, the body of work for Issue 2 will be more diversified and as stunning as, if not even more so than, the first. As the school term is coming to an end, I foresee that I will very soon be able to invest time to design the pages for this issue. Stay tuned!
Pete A huge thank-you to the contributors, honourable readers and literary friends, the recordings for all the poetry work in the first issue of BLJ is gathered and launched on our Issue 1 page! I hope you will find the recordings enjoyable and that they offer you an extra dimension of enjoyment for our first issue.
And certainly, if anyone is interested contributing recording for the prose pieces as well, our door is open anytime for you! ;) Pete |
